get your act together!

Download Registration Materials (MS Word)

Registration opens on January 1st and is first come, first served.

Stuff you need to know before you register:

Who can register?
The NEFF is open to all performers including theater, music, improv, dance, stand-up, performance art, you name it.

When can we register?
Registration materials are available on January 1st. Just click on the link above.

How are acts accepted?
Registration is on a first come, first served basis - open to all performance groups, duos and individuals willing and able to perform in front of an audience. Do not send video or audio with your application.  The registration fee  is $125, plus a $100 no-show deposit whichi is returned to acts that complete their schedule.

What does an act get for registering? Registered acts receive a minimum of 3 performances slots in the NEFF; a website listing & description of your show; a program listing and description of your show; invites for your cast to the closing night party; and the opportunity to take home a "Fringe Favorite" prize, voted on by the audience.

What's a "Fringe Favorite"? A Fringe Favorite is an act which the audience has determined, by popular vote to be their favorite. First place will take home 60% of the prize pool; second place takes home 30% of the pool, and third place takes home 10% of the pool.

Where does the "Fringe Favorite" prize money come from? Good question. 100% of the registration fee for each act is put into the prize money pool.

What does a performance slot consist of?  Each act is given a total of 60 minutes. 10 minutes to set up, 40 minutes to perform, and 10 minutes to break down.  For example, if your performance is at 8PM, you will be allowed in the space at 7:50, the lights will go up at 8PM; the lights will go down at 8:40, and you will leave the theater by 8:50 so the next act can set up.  Your performance slots will not be back to back, and very likely will not be on the same day.

How are performance slots determined? Once registration is closed acts will be chosen at random for performance slots.  You will not be consulted. Your dates and times are chosen out of a hat. Literally. End of discussion. You do however, get to specify which venues or combination of venues you are available for when you register, and that narrows down the possible dates so you can still plan your life.  For example, if you choose to register for Nashua, you know that you'll have a show on either the Thursday or Friday night,  plus one on Saturday and one on Sunday.

What about my set, props, backdrops, specials and flying rig? Not going to happen, unless you are a load-in load-out genius. Again, you have 10 minutes to set up. So whatever you need, plan carefully.

What about the box office?
Acts do not share in the box office revenue [someone has to pay for the venues and the advertising and the program and all that other "stuff" - that would be the NEFF and we do it with the box office revenues].

Can we get a mailing list?  We don't sell, share or trade our mailing list, but we will collect emails for you from willing audience members at your shows so you can let them know about your other projects.
